Position Type:               Contract

Contract Term:             August 15, 2024 – January 15, 2025

Contract Amount:         Up to $18,000 (including all related expenses)

Hours:                         We estimate and anticipate approximately 60 hours per month, volume pending.

SUMMARY:

This contract is being lead under the umbrella of the Columbia Valley Community Economic Development Office (CVCEDO), a service of the Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) that is being delivered and managed by the Columbia Valley Chamber of Commerce (CVCC).

 

DUTIES:

Attract production companies and promote our region to the domestic and international film industry as a prime location for film, television, and commercial productions by:

·       Welcoming and supporting productions to our service region by providing services, resources and information to companies who wish to bring productions to the area, with the purpose of nurturing a sustainable business climate.

·       Ensuring a timely response back to the producer client requests, providing script breakdowns, scouting expertise, and production surveys.

·       Location scouting and surveys with clients when required.

·       Expanding and updating ReelScout location files.

·       Responsible for the day-to-day phone and email inquiries.

·       Supporting the continued expansion of local crew and service database.

·       Serving as a reference center for productions and offering logistical support, including providing assistance on local permitting, and obtaining film location access in order to achieve creative and logistical needs of the project(s).

·       Provide support (information) to local screen-based industry professionals and producers.

·       Assisting in matching the local crew and service providers with the production.

·       Work with the Kootenay Film Commission.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·       Working understanding of office and database systems – experienced with the globally used ReelScout digital location library.

·       Strong photography skills.

·       Must have valid BC Driver’s License and have a vehicle capable of travel throughout the service region.

·       Ability to work safely in any environment.

·       Broad, demonstrable contacts and relationships within the local, provincial film industry.

·       Experience with government film permission and permitting processes on a municipal or provincial level.

·       Demonstrates awareness of and appreciation/respect for differences in human behaviors and cultures.

·       Awareness of and a willingness to learn more about current anti-racism and inclusion practices.

·       Demonstrates knowledge in the fields of commercial, service and independent film production.

CONTRACT REQUIREMENTS:

·       This role is based out of the Columbia Valley Chamber of Commerce office, and as such the contractor must be located within the Columbia Valley Region.

·       Work hours are flexible however will be largely based on demand created from interest in this industry and it is expected that there will be some early mornings, weekend, and evening work as needed.

·       All digital assets and other intellectual property gathered and created while under this contract will remain the property of the Columbia Valley Community Economic Development Office.

·       An extension to this timeline may occur if a qualified proponent hasn’t been identified.

·       You must be legally able to work in Canada.
