The Human Resources Manager is responsible for human resource activities such as employment, training, compensation, benefits, and labour relations. The Human Resources Manager performs all assigned tasks with sufficient speed and accuracy to support store efficiency and a high level of customer service.


  • Work with management to identify and plan for human resource requirements to meet short and long-term business needs.
  • Perform administrative functions requiring some insight into the Why and How.
  • Participate in the recruitment process, coordinating internal and external ads, as well as utilizing proven and tested recruiting methods to secure good leads.
  • Help organize and participate in local job fairs.
  • Process and screen job applicants.
  • Make hiring decisions.
  • Manage and conduct employee training and orientation programs.
  • Investigate benefit claims and grievances.
  • Participate in career development, discussing career paths with the management.
  • Shared accountability with Controller for payroll function.
  • Investigate and resolve day-to-day employee relations problems, either directly or through advice to management.
  • Conduct routine salary and wage administration tasks, providing advice to management on wage and salaries for all employees.
  • Direct the adaptation of policies, plans and programs to meet accepted objectives.
    Suggest rule or policy changes to the store manager when such changes would improve efficiency, morale, operations, profits, sales, etc.
  • Participate in the Workplace safety programs, evaluation, training, and documentation.
  • Maintain and update job requirements and job descriptions for all store positions.
  • Maintain professional confidentiality of all store and customer records.
  • Work on additional duties and assignments as assigned by management.
  • Work in a safe manner in accordance with provincial and federal safety legislation. Report any potential hazards and unsafe behavior to management in order to have the situation corrected.


  • Formal education in Human Resources preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, recruitment, organizational development, employment relations, and safety.
  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching skills.
  • Good team building skills with exceptional communication and motivational skills.
  • Ability to operate equipment necessary to perform assigned tasks efficiently and safely, including a computer, fax machine, etc.
  • Ability to work co-operatively in a team environment.


  • Reports directly to the General Manager.

Salary: From $65,000.00 per year
