The Garden Centre Employee should have a strong knowledge of plants, gardening tools, outdoor equipment, and related products to assist customers effectively. Learning and training opportunities will be provided throughout your time here. You will report directly to the Garden Centre Team Lead and Garden Centre Supervisor.

**MUST BE ABLE TO WORK OUTSIDE IN ALL TYPES OF WEATHER CONDITIONS**

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
·         Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner.

·         Assist and answer inquiries about plants, gardening supplies, outdoor furniture, and related products.

·         Provide expert advice, guidance, and recommendations to help customers select appropriate products for their gardening needs and on proper usage/care of purchased products.

·         Daily plant Care: Water, prune, and maintain plants to ensure they are healthy and presentable for customers. Identify and address plant health issues promptly.

·         Monitor inventory levels to restock plants as needed.

·         Assist in creating visually appealing displays and setups to showcase seasonal products and promotions.

·         Ensure all products are correctly labeled with prices and relevant information.

·         Process sales transactions accurately using the store’s POS system. Handle cash, credit card, and other payment methods securely and efficiently.

·         Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the Garden Centre area, including shelving, displays, and workstations. Regularly sweep, clean, and ensure a safe environment for both customers and employees.

·         Stay updated on the latest gardening trends, outdoor living products, and industry developments.

·         Provide assistance in loading heavy or bulky items into customers’ vehicles if required.

·         Comply with all health and safety guidelines, including proper handling and disposal of chemicals, fertilizers, and hazardous materials. Ensure safety protocols are followed during plant care and maintenance.

·         Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
·         Strong passion and knowledge of plants, gardening, and outdoor living products.

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers and colleagues.

·         Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting heavy bags of soil, plants, and outdoor equipment. Lift to 50lbs occasionally, 30lbs frequently, and 20lbs constantly.

·         Previous retail or customer service experience is an advantage.

·         Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, especially during peak gardening seasons.

Salary: Hourly wage of $18.00 – $20.00

Seasonal opportunities to start Mid-April and end early September. Start and end dates can be flexible. Full-time and Part-time positions available. Hours will fluctuate throughout the season.
