What does Kootenay Employment Services do?
With offices in Creston, Cranbrook, Fernie and Invermere, we administer multiple employment contracts, funded by various stakeholders including provincial and federal sources. These programs are designed to assist local community members to find meaningful and sustainable employment.
We are currently seeking a new staff member to join us in our Invermere Office working hybrid from home and office on a 24 month fixed term contract facilitating group workshops for 24 hours a week.
Lets talk about what this is position is responsible for
Oversee participant recruitment and selection
Deliver workshops to participants, community, employers and if needed groups
Assessment of participant needs and situation
Creation of workshop material as needed
Advocacy of clients with barriers and education to employers on inclusive hiring practices
Establish and maintain positive, constructive working relationships with a diverse network of local employers
Management of record keeping and reporting
Administration associated with the position
Communication with key stakeholders
Meet and exceed contractually obligated targets
Who we are looking for
A post-secondary certificate, degree or diploma in a related field (career or employment development, vocational rehabilitation, social work, psychology, sociology, human services, counselling, education or human resources management) preferred, or equitable experience and education to execute the functions of the position.
Valid BC driver’s license and access to a vehicle
A clean criminal record check for the vulnerable sector
Self-motivated, confident, and able to work independently and make decisions
Experience in facilitation will be highly regarded
Experience working with diverse and highly barriered client groups
Proven ability to deliver material in a flexible manner with a deep appreciation and understanding of different learning styles and with patience
Excellent conflict management skills and strong ability to work well under pressure
Excellent communication skills – verbal, written and electronic
Excellent sales and customer care skills including cold calling and relationship management
Innovative and solution oriented working style
Strong active listening, motivational, and coaching skills
Strong organizational and time management abilities including proficiency multi-tasking, prioritizing tasks, and making impromptu adjustments to work plans
A well-developed understanding of the local and regional employer community and a good understanding of the local labour market an asset
Sensitivity to employer and job-seeker confidentiality and ability to adhere to privacy and security regulations and protocols
