Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be a key member of our maintenance crew, which is a small, but kick-ass team. More specifically, you will:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform and document predictive and preventative maintenance on all processing, packaging, and auxiliary equipment according to a set schedule.
- Support problem solving, resolution of machine and equipment issues and reliability improvements.
- Maintain machine standards of operation in accordance with baseline hardware and software installation, measurements and equipment standard set up manual.
- Execute corrective, predictive and preventative maintenance procedures to ensure a high level of machine utilization and low scrap level.
- Assist with continuous improvement of equipment, process safety and reliability program.
- Perform rebuild and verification testing of worn spare parts and equipment.
- Assist in spare parts cycle count and the inventory organization as needed.
- Assist with the equipment set up and change over process.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Maintenance shop.
- Ensure a high level of health and safety of personnel and care of the property, equipment and product under your control.
- Follow all health and safety protocols for the facility.
- Assist maintenance technicians and other team members when required.
- Partner with other technicians on shift and cross shifts to continually complete objectives.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Technical school certificate or equivalent experience an asset.
- Previous experience in a fast-paced manufacturing industry an asset.
- Basic knowledge and aptitude in mechanical and electrical (motor circuits, VFD’s, Servos, PLC’s, singe and three phase electrical) systems.
- Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints, schematics and equipment documentation.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tool application, operation and use.
- Basic knowledge of a packaging line, roasting and grinding processing equipment preferred.
- Certified to operate a forklift and scissor lift, or willing to be trained.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs, able to withstand periods of physically demanding and repetitive work, and happy to work at heights and confined spaces.
- A valid BC driver’s license is an asset.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This position will operate on a four day, 10-hour-shift rotating schedule including weekdays and weekends. Monday – Friday shift times will be 5:00am – 3:00pm or 1:00pm – 11:00pm; Saturday and Sunday shift times will be from 9:00am – 7:00pm. The successful applicant will be required to sign an averaging agreement.

They assist the “boots-on-the-ground” Guardians and act as the “eyes and ears” of the territory. Their focus is to help maintain Shuswap Band’s traditional values while coordinating with external partners and establishing a presence within our Traditional Caretaker Area. You will work as a technical and administrative liaison with external partners on archeology, fishery, forestry, construction, and wildlife monitoring projects.
Responsibilities:
- Support Guardian Leads and Referral Coordinators with scheduling. This will include contacting proponents regularly about scheduling and keeping both external and internal teams up to date on Guardian availability.
- Monitoring, managing, and responding to InReach Check-ins.
- Activating the Emergency Response Plan (ERP) when necessary.
- Providing administrative support to Shuswap Band Guardians. This includes helping create and process cheque/travel requisitions, develop project invoices, maintain up-to-date records, support training coordination, and help with other administrative tasks, as needed.
- Help educate youth, visitors, and community members on land stewardship programs and initiatives.
- Promote cultural programs such as youth elder mentorships, on-the-land youth programs, subsistence harvesting, language camps, etc.
- Integrate local and traditional knowledge to manage and steward lands and waters.
- Maintain a presence on lands through observation, recording, and reporting.
- Gathering and application of Indigenous laws, teachings, and knowledge.
- Write reports and deliver to supervisor as requested.
- Monitor, research, and collect data on priority issues (i.e., wildlife, climate, contamination, visitor impacts, illegal activity, compliance, etc.). Includes species and habitat identification, monitoring, and protection.
- Build relationships with enforcement and compliance support team members.
- Help with community clean-up projects. Duties include garbage, recycling, composting and general maintenance of our lands and homes.
- Deliver wood to community members as needed. Work in community gardens, planting, weeding, and watering.
- Help with set up and take down before and after Community Events.
- Perform other related duties as requested.
Qualifications:
- Basic computer skills
- An understanding of basic office applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Educational interest in conservation and natural resource management.
- Must be able to maintain a positive attitude during long periods of work in the field.
- Willingness to work away for extended periods of time within the Shuswap Territory.
- Previous experience using satellite phones/personal location devices and two-way radio is ideal.
- Can demonstrate good organizational skills by taking simple, clear notes.
- Can demonstrate good communication skills. You are an active listener and observer and ask good questions.
- Proven ability to work independently and interact positively with project managers, supervisors, clients, field partners, and landowners.
- A valid British Columbia Class 5 driver’s license and clean driving record are ideal but not required.
- Willingness to attain an OFA Level 1 First Aid certificate and Transportation Endorsement.
- Ability to work long days in the field and for extended periods of time. Up to 12 hours a day, five days a week.
- Ability to safely operate 4×4 vehicles on unmaintained roads.
- Able to hike approximately 20 km per day, carrying equipment over uneven terrain with elevation gain.
- Be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds.
- Must be willing and able to work in all types of weather (rain, wind, extreme temperatures) and varied terrain (from wetlands to mountain tops).
- Previous Administrative experience is an asset.
- Previous experience working with or for First Nations.
- Previous experience in orienteering is an asset.
- Wildlife knowledge and safety awareness.
- Familiarity with Rocky Mountain/East Kootenay flora and plant ID is an asset.

Job Description:
Shuswap Band is looking for an Event Coordinator & Culture Admin Assistant to join our Culture & Language Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting all Shuswap Band departments with planning, coordinating, and executing Shuswap Band’s many community events, including the annual Salmon Festival, Salmon Release, National Indigenous Peoples’ Day, and various other community celebrations as they are identified. Additionally, the ideal candidate will work closely with the Culture & Language Department to support their growing administrative needs. This will include helping with processing honoraria, cheque and travel requisitions, meeting scheduling, annual funding reporting, and other administrative tasks as required.
Responsibilities:
- Work with all departments across the organization to ensure events are well-planned and run smoothly; support all aspects of Shuswap events from planning to execution and wrap-up.
- Document all aspects of event planning in a centralized location (digital or paper) to ensure ease of information sharing.
- Host planning meetings and ensure tasks and responsibilities are communicated to the relevant stakeholders (including staff, managers, clients, vendors, community members, etc.).
- Establish relationships with local venues and vendors.
- Reserve event spaces.
- Coordinate Shuswap Band staff to support events as needed.
- Work with Finance and relevant managers to ensure that event budgets are developed, vendors are paid, and donations are accounted for.
- Promote events to Shuswap Band members, staff, and the broader Invermere/Columbia Valley community (where appropriate).
- Provide general administrative support to the Culture & Language Department.
- Organize, schedule, and take meeting minutes for Culture & Language Department meetings.
- Answer and direct emails, phone calls, and guests as needed.
- Carry out administrative duties such as filing, typing, copying, mailing, scanning, etc.
- Process honoraria, cheque, and travel requisitions; assist with travel arrangements.
- Assist in the preparation of annual and/or quarterly grant reports.
- Develop and maintain a filing system.
- Work with supervisor and directors as required to handle requests from other departments.
Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent education
- Education/training in Event Planning or Administration an asset
- 1-3 years of event planning experience
- 1+ years of administrative assistant experience
- Knowledge of appropriate software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint
- Strong event management and organizational skills
- Experience with community events
- Excellent customer and client service skills
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain basic budgets
- An understanding of Shuswap Band culture, events, and community is an asset
- Knowledge of performance monitoring methods for events and the ability to create reports to guide future event coordination improvements
- Able to provide a cleared RCMP Criminal Record Check

The Class 5 local Truck Driver will be responsible for delivering freight throughout the Columbia Valley on a daily basis. Start times will vary, depending on the run and the day. Deliveries can be direct to store or residential customers. Must do proper pre-trip and post-trip.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- A mixture of highway and town driving- Ensuring accuracy of all deliveries.
- Daily Pre-Trip Inspections
- Correctly loading and unloading 53ft trailers
- Provide excellent customer service
- Operate the delivery truck in a safe manner at all times, obeying all rules of the DOT
- Adjusting weight and excels
- Performing other tasks as assigned
