Roasting Support

YOUR DAILY MISSION: Support our Roasting team to ensure they have all they need to roast the best coffee in the world! WHO ARE YOU? You love to work with a team. You will maneuver, stack, and load green coffee into the roasting hoppers, to get roasted to perfection! You will set up the roasting room, follow green bean recipes, clean equipment, and transport beans throughout the facility. From our Roasting Operators to our Packaging team, you will support our crew members to ensure we roast the best coffee in the world. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Calculate our green bean needs daily, accurately, speedily, right down to the recipe.
  • Manually load green beans into roasting hoppers, following a precise bean recipe.
  • Safely transport coffee beans throughout our facility, via forklift.
  • Follow our departmental checklists and standard operating procedures.
  • Operate our Rotary Batch Mixer to create Post Roast Blends.
  • Enter and track detailed records of coffee information and recipes into our ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning System)
  • Participate and engage in Roasting Department staff meetings. Connecting, problem solving, and bringing ideas for improvement.
  • Clean and maintain our roasting equipment, ensuring it is operating as smoothly and safely as possible! This includes hoppers, pipes, de-stoners, bins, etc.
  • Join our team in brewing and flavour evaluation.
  • Provide Roasting Staging and Roaster relief coverage when needed, teamwork makes the dream work!
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous experience working in a physically demanding role or manufacturing environment. Roles focused on supporting a large team through cleaning and staging is an asset!
  • An ability and desire to work cross-functionally to support all production departments.
  • You have a narrow forklift operator certificate or are willing to be trained and obtain one.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 25-50lbs, with help from our team and green bean tech!

  • Lead and inspire a small, but mighty crew of Material Handlers.

  • Conduct product cycle counts and reconciliation, including finished goods and chep pallets.

  • Support the crew on deck as needed.
  • Troubleshoot any inbound or outbound shipping issues with carriers as they arise.
  • Generate regular feedback, thoughts ideas, and suggestions from the team, ensuring that requests are addressed and followed up in a timely manner.
  • Act as a calming influence during challenging situations through respectful and professional conduct.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum high school diploma, post-secondary education preferred.
  • Previous experience in a warehouse or manufacturing an ASS-et.
  • 2-3 years experience in a leadership role.
  • Forklift experience would be considered an ASS-et.

LOCATION: We are a full-service, off-grid, remote wilderness lodge located in British Columbia in the beautiful and majestic Canadian Rocky Mountains. We are accessible by road, approximately 1/2 hour from Radium Hot Springs, 1 hour from Banff, and 3 hours from Calgary. JOB DESCRIPTION: Cross River Education and Retreat Center has an opening for a seasonal cook for the 2024 summer season – the last 2 weeks of May, all of June, July, August, and September. Join our small, family-run business who all have a passion for providing our guests with delicious home-cooked meals and exceptional outdoor experiences, while making them feel at home and a part of our family.
